The Manas Sousi Khonkhor Eco-Tourism Society (MSKETS) is a well-regarded community-based eco-tourism initiative located in the buffer zone of Manas National Park, Assam. It operates in the Kokilabari area of Baksa district, within the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR), and focuses on sustainable livelihood and conservation through tourism.

01
Day 1: Arrival & Community Welcome
  • Morning – Arrival:
    1. Pick-up from Barpeta Road or Guwahati Airport (optional transport support)

    2. Drive to Kokilabari (2.5–4 hours depending on origin)

    3. Warm welcome by MSKETS team with traditional herbal drink and local music

    4. Check-in to community-managed homestay or eco-cottage

  • Afternoon – Cultural Walk & Interaction:
    • Lunch: Traditional Bodo meal prepared by local women

    • Village walk through Kokilabari

      1. Visit traditional Bodo homes, organic gardens, and weaving units
      2. Learn about their forest-based lifestyle and conservation efforts
  • Evening – Culture & Campfire:
    1. Bodo dance performance (Bagurumba or traditional flute music)

    2. Interactive storytelling about Manas National Park and local folklore

    3. Dinner around the campfire with seasonal Assamese cuisine

    4. Overnight stay at MSKETS eco-lodge/homestay

Day 2: Wildlife Safari & Forest Life
  • Early Morning – Safari Adventure:
    1. Wake-up tea and light snacks

    2. Depart for Jeep Safari inside Manas National Park

      • Explore grasslands and riverine forests of the Eastern Range
      • Spot wildlife: elephants, wild buffalo, rhinos, golden langur, hornbills
  • Midday – Rest & Rural Flavors:
    1. Return to base for a hearty local breakfast

    2. Relax or nap post-safari

  • Afternoon – Immersive Activities:
    1. Lunch at the MSKETS community kitchen

    2. Participate in one or more of the following:

      • Traditional weaving demonstration (try your hand)
      • Organic farming techniques in forest-fringe fields
      • Fishing in local ponds or riverbanks

  • Evening – Reflection & Bonfire:

Day 3: Forest Morning & Farewell
  • Morning – Slow Start:

  • Late Morning – Souvenir & Departure:
    1. Receive a handcrafted token (woven gamosa or bamboo item)
